Microsoft bolsters mobile BI with Datazen buy

MICROSOFT HAS BEEN spending again, this time on business intelligence (BI) software vendor Datazen.

Datazen was set up three years ago, and has been working on a more “friendly” interface for BI, including graphics-led mobile apps and a more snappy approach.

The idea is that data from VoIP telecoms, GPS and IoT wearables can be tied together in a series of complex algorithms, but still let the end user ask a relatively plain English question about business strategy and get meaningful, evidence-based results.

The 15-strong Datazen workforce will be taken on as Microsoft employees in an undisclosed financial deal.
